Ingredients:
• 3 onions, finely sliced
• 6 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1.5 kg lean beef or lamb mince
• 2 cans (410 g each) tomatoes, chopped
• 100 ml tomato paste
• 50 ml Maggi Lazenby Worcestershire Sauce
• 100 ml Maggi Chilli Garlic Sauce
• 10 ml (2 teaspoons) ground cumin
• 100 g pine nuts
• Salt and pepper
• 6 potatoes, parboiled and sliced
• 4 brinjals, sliced and fried in oil
• 4 egg yolks
• 1 litre white sauce, made with 3 cans (380 g each) Nestlé Ideal Low Fat Evaporated Milk instead of milk
• 250 ml (1 cup) grated Cheddar cheese
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an oblong ovenproof dish.
- Fry the onions and garlic in a little oil until soft, add the mince and fry until done.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chilli garlic sauce, cumin, pine nuts, salt and pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer until fragrant.
- Arrange a layer of potatoes in the dish, followed by the mince and brinjals. Mix the egg yolks with the white sauce and pour over.
- Scatter over the cheese and bake for about 40 minutes or until golden. Serve with a green salad.
